Question
Do I need to update the myQA iON beam models when the TPS or OIS version was upgraded (e.g., upgrade from Aria v16 to Aria v18)?
Answer
A TPS or OIS update alone, does not require any changes to the myQA iON beam model or its configuration for absolute dose or MLC offset. The same is true for using ELM (Enhanced Leaf Motion) vs. DLG (Dosimetric Leaf Gap) for the MLC offset. The myQA iON beam model reflects the actual beam, so the Linac behavior itself. The myQA iON beam model is created based on beam measurements and is independent from the TPS.
myQA iON, as a highly precise secondary dose calculation software, is a great tool to have in such or similar situations: The OIS/TPS update does not impact the beam itself, so, myQA iON can be used to verify that the OIS/TPS update was successful and did not introduce any errors (e.g., in the update process, in the new version, or caused by interoperability issues).
