What needs to be considered when exporting or not exporting a couch structure?

Prerequisites

The following data needs to be exported from the TPS and imported to myQA iON:

  • RTPlan
  • RTDose
  • RTStruct
  • CT slices

Couch Structure in Structure Set (RTStruct)?

Two possibilities are recommended in general:

  1. Export/import without contoured couch/table structures or
  2. Export/import with contoured couch/table but dose included.

Possibility 1 is recommended.

The reason can be seen in this example:

 
Here, one sends the plan as shown at the bottom right (contour but no dose). myQA iON calculates dose in this structure because SciMoCa calculates always dose when there is a structure (bottom left). This leads of course to differences in the difference dose map and 3D gamma comparison (both at the top). The overall Gamma result will be bad.
