The BP SMARTSCAN water reservoir is used for filling / draining the water phantom, storing water
while the phantom is not in use, or TPR / TMR measurements. It is equipped with a bidirectional
DC water pump used for filling / draining water and an electromagnetic valve to prevent water leakage and to prevent water from flowing back into the reservoir during measurements if the hose is connected to the phantom.
The pumping speed can be adjusted by the pumping speed control.
The same as for the lift table, the two rear wheels of the reservoir can be braked and locked at any
orientations and the direction of two front wheels can be locked at the forward direction.
The water reservoir can be used stand-alone with its own hand control or connected to the
phantom’s connection box and to be control with the hand control of the phantom. If it is used by
the phantom’s hand control the pump speed is fixed to approx. 20 l / min due to the TPR / TMR measurement. For full speed pumping, use the hand control of the water reservoir.

CAUTION: LOCK THE DIRECTION DURING TRANSPORTATION
To prevent unintentional rotation of the device during transporting on the inclined floor, lock the direction of the front wheels of the water reservoir before moving the device.
Hand control of water reservoir
(1) Fill button: Fills the phantom
(2) Stop button: Stops the pumping operation.
(3) Drain button: Drains the phantom
Using Water Reservoir
Storage compartment of the water reservoir; 1: Water hose; 2: Chamber detector; 3: CCU; 4: Cables; 5: Key of utility door.
Connections
- Open the lid of the storage compartment on the top, where the cables and water hose are stored.
- Power cord (black)
- Pump control cable to water phantom (with blue connector)
- Water level detector cable (with red connector)
- Water hose
- Connect the water hose to the water tank by pushing the two counter parts of the quick coupler
together.
To disconnect the hose, pull back the lock ring of the quick coupler
- Connect to the pump control connector (blue) to the Water Reservoir connector in the phantom connection box.
- Connect the cable with the red connector to the water level detector cable.
- Plug the power cord to the mains supply.
Filling / draining water procedure
Transportation side of the water reservoir
1: Transportation handle
2: Hand control
3: Pumping speed control
- Install the water level detector in the phantom with the large universal holder. Use the CCU hand control to move the detector to the desired water level. For filling, mount the detector horizontally (below left); for emptying the water, mount the detector vertically (below right) and move it to the Slowest position.
- Press the Fill /Drain button on the water reservoir hand control. Pumping speed can be adjusted the pumping speed control (3). At maximum setting, “100”, it takes about 5 minutes to fill / drain 200 L of water.
- When water level is reached, the pump stops and the valve closes automatically.
Stop button: During filling / draining, press this button to stop the filling / draining.
Initial waiting time
If the water reservoir has been connected to the mains outlet the first time, there is an initial waiting time
of approximately 20 seconds. During this time, the electromagnetic valve is opened in order to remove the air between the pump and the electromagnetic valve. The green LED of the Stop button flashes during this time.
Hand Control LEDs
The Fill /Drain button has a red LED above, while the Stop button has a green LED.
- During filling / draining, the corresponding red LED is on.
- When filling / draining stops, the green LED of the Stop button is on.
- The green LED is slow-blinking (long period-on and short period-off pattern) if the pump is at standby mode, TMR is in use, or the pump is controlled by the CCU hand control.
- The green LED is fast-blinking (~5 Hz) if error (e.g., over temperature, fuse is blow out) occurs. If the error is removed, it can be reset by press the Stop button once.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: EXTERNAL PUMP CONTROL
The water reservoir pumping can also be operated via the control panel of myQA Accept and with the corresponding CCU remote control menu.
CAUTION: DRY PUMP
Do not run the pump dry for more than 5 minutes.
Information About Water to be Used
Using tap water: Chlorine additives in tap water may release corrosive chemicals under radiation. Ensure that local chlorine levels are low when filling the water phantom with tap water. In general, tap water is not recommended.
Using demineralized (or de-ionized) water: Demineralized water has had minerals (e.g., lime) formed, but it still contains chlorine. Please note, demineralized water fosters the growth of algae (plants) and is therefore not recommended.
Using distilled water: Distilled water has little to no traces of slats, organic compounds, and
microorganisms. It is recommended to use distilled water in the water phantom.
CAUTION: ABOUT ADDITIVES
Do not add corrosive additives such as oxidant reagent, acid and base to the water. It
may corrode the metal parts soaked in the water.
