Water Phantom
Unpacking the Blue Phantom2
The Blue Phantom2 is delivered completely assembled in a corrugated cardboard box. Carefully unpack all
items according to the instructions below.
CAUTION: HANDLING AND LIFTING THE PHANTOM
Handle the Blue Phantom² with great care. The device is very fragile.
Never lift the device alone. Always ensure that at least two people are involved to prevent injury or damage.
Never lift the system by the mechanics. Lifting the system by the mechanics could damage the system.
- Cut the tension belts and remove the top cover of the box.
- Remove the upper packing material.
- Unpack the accessories (CCU-X, cabling, remote control, packing list, etc.).
- Check the packing list and ensure all items have been delivered.
- Lift the phantom out of the box and place it on the lift table (this should have already been unpacked and assembled).
- Position the lift table with the water phantom to the desired location under the linear accelerator.
- Lock the lift table using the parking brakes.
- Lift or lower the platform so that the water phantom is placed at the desired height.
- Now the water phantom may be fine adjusted in vertical direction using the three big adjustment hand wheels underneath the leveling plate and in the horizontal plane by turning the lateral adjustment handle on the table platform.
- Connect the CCU-X and remote control to the phantom (see also Chapter 6) and move the Z-axis upwards to release the transport lock from the mechanics.
CAUTION: NEVER MOVE THE AXES OF THE DEVICE MANUALLY
Never move the axes of the device manually. Moving the axes manually may damage the mechanics, potentially leading to inaccurate measurements and patient harm.
CAUTION: BE CAUTIOUS OF MOVING PARTS
Maintain a safe distance and avoid touching the mechanics while it is in motion as this may cause injury.
Device Connection Overview
The graphics below shows the general connection between the different devices.
Device connection overview; The green lines indicate cable connections; 1: Water tank, 2: Field Detector,
3: Reference Detector, 4: CCU-X Connection box, 5: CCU-X, 6: Ethernet switch, 7: CCU-X Hand control, 8:
computer, A: Treatment room, B: Control room
The CCU-X is placed in the treatment room. It is connected to the computer via an Ethernet switch, and
connected to the water phantom via a drive control cable and two detector extension cables.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: LONG CABLE
In general, a long cable is required to connect the CCU-X to the local network or computer. The long cable may reduce the signal significantly. An Ethernet Switch serves as signal amplifier, and provides more parallel connections to several devices.
CAUTION: ELECTRICALLY DAMAGED CABLES
Ensure that there is no electrical damage of the cables before using them.
Minimum Requirement of Network Infrastructure
- 100BASE-TX 10MBit/sec fast Ethernet with auto-negotiation
- Cabling: CAT-5 or CAT-6; maximum segment length: 100 m; the wiring must be carried out according to
TIE/EIA-568.
