What are the kQ factors for the IBA chambers?
Answer
The following tables present the beam quality correction factors (kQ) for IBA ionization chambers. The values have been determined as a function of the photon beam quality index TRP20,10 under reference conditions, based on Monte Carlo (MC) calculations or on experimental measurements, as specified. The kQ factor corrects for the difference between the absorbed dose to water calibration coefficient obtained in a 60Co reference beam and the corresponding coefficient at the clinical beam quality, thereby ensuring traceable and accurate dose determination in external beam radiotherapy.
