Device Connection Overview
The graphics below shows the general connection between the different devices.
The CCU-X is placed in the treatment room. It is connected to the computer via an Ethernet switch and to the water phantom via a drive control cable and two detector extension cables.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: LONG CABLE
In general, a long cable is required to connect the CCU-X to the local network or computer. The long cable may reduce the signal significantly. An Ethernet Switch serves as signal amplifier, and provides more parallel connections to several devices.
CAUTION: ELECTRICALLY DAMAGED CABLES
Ensure that there is no electrical damage of the cables before using them.
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY FORCE WHEN CONNECTING DEVICES
Do not apply any force when connecting the remote control, lift table, or water reservoir. Connecting the devices to any other connector than the intended will damage the system.
CAUTION: NEVER HOT PLUG THE DEVICE
Never hot plug the device. Always switch off the controller before connecting or disconnecting the device. Hot plugging might damage the device, potentially leading to inaccurate measurements and patient harm.
Minimum Requirement of Network Infrastructure
- 100BASE-TX 100MBit/sec fast Ethernet with auto-negotiation
- Cabling: CAT-5 or CAT-6; maximum segment length: 100 m; the wiring must be carried out according to TIA / EIA-568-A / B /'s Termination Standard.
Table 5.3. Minimum machine requirements for SW installation and operation
Item | Specification |

Setting up a Network Connection
- When used in wireless mode (standard operations) the CCU-X provides wireless networking according to IEEE-802.11 for standard operations (Section 5.4.3.2). The Wireless IP Address and the Wireless MAC Address can be found on the Device Info page of the web interface.
- When used in wired mode (optional) the CCU-X provides 10/100/100 MBit wired networking according to IEEE-802.3 (Section 5.4.3.3). The Ethernet IP Address and the Ethernet MAC Address can be found on the Device Info page of the web interface.
- If the device is connected to a network without a DHCP-Server, no static IP-Address is configured. A linklocal address (LLADR) from the 169.254.xx.yy Pool is used (Subnet mask 255.255.0.0). The first address to try is 169.254.22.11
Ports necessary for full functionality of CCU-X
- TCP: 1222, 1227, 51233 (inbound/outbound)
- UDP: 1221 (inbound/outbound)
