Customer Information on Obligations under the German Elektro- und Elektronikgerätegesetz (ElektroG) and the EU WEEE Directive
As part of our commitment to sustainability and responsible resource management, IBA Dosimetry takes back end-of-life devices from our customers. We do this not only in accordance with legal requirements, but also because we genuinely believe in the principles we are certified for as a B-Corp company: extending product lifecycles, reusing valuable materials, reducing waste, and minimizing environmental footprint through professional recycling processes.
The German Elektro- und Elektronikgerätegesetz (ElektroG) is the national implementation of the European Union (EU) Directive 2012/19/EU on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE Directive). It defines obligations for the collection, return, and environmentally sound disposal of electrical and electronic equipment. Its objective is to avoid waste, promote reuse and recycling, and increase resource efficiency.
Customer Responsibilities under ElektroG and the WEEE Directive
To support proper handling and sustainable disposal, our customers are reminded of the following obligations:
Separate collection
According to § 10 (1) ElektroG, end-of-life devices must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste. Batteries, rechargeable batteries, and lamps that can be removed without damage must be taken out before disposal.Removal of personal data
Before returning or disposing of a device, customers are responsible for permanently deleting any personal or sensitive data stored on it.-
Symbol for separate collection
The crossed-out wheelie-bin symbol displayed on our products indicates that they fall under the scope of the WEEE Directive and must not be disposed of with household waste.
