Question
What are the steps to convert ionization to dose in case of Electron Dosimetry?
Answer
Important Consideration:
- The Ionization to Dose function in the Data Handling menu can convert the relative ionization into relative dose.
- When measuring electron beams, the measured curves are displayed as relative ionization by default.
Step 1
First select the measurement(s) and then select Ionization to Dose in the Data Handling menu.
Note: This function of Ionization to Absorbed Dose Conversion is enabled only when at least one electron curve is selected.
Step 2
The Ionization to absorbed dose conversion window opens and provide the various parameters to select.
Step 3
In the Protocol group, click the dropdown list and select a protocol that will be applied for the conversion.
Note: For certain protocols, the mean energy, E0, of the electron beam at the surface of the phantom is used. User can enter this parameter by selecting the User defined E0.
Step 4
For normalizing the data, select Normalize to 100% at Dmax in the Normalization group.
Note: If the calculated data and the original data should be shown at the same time, choose keep the original data in the Original data group.
Step 5
In the Convert what group:
All data: converts all PDD curves
Selected data: convert the selected curves only.
Step 6
For some protocols, the perturbation correction group is enabled.
To use this correction, select the Use perturbation correction box and then enter the detector in the Detector group for correction.
Step 7
Click the OK button to perform the conversion.
Note:
For the calculation protocol, always ensure which calculation method is chosen.
