Question
Can I install two different MagicMaX software versions in parallel?
Answer
With a workaround it is possible to install and operate two different versions of the MagicMaX software.
Step 1
Uninstall the currently installed MagicMaX software
Step 2
Install the 1st desired software version, e.g. Version 2.1.2
The software is installed in the path C:\Program Files(x86)\MagicMaX\ by default.
Step 3
In the path C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\ create a new folder, e.g. MagicMaX_2.1.2
Step 4
Open the installation path C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\MagicMaX\.
Mark all files and folders in it (ctrl + a) and copy them to the clipboard (ctrl + c).
Note: It is very important to copy the files. Do not cut the files.
Step 5
Open the previously created folder in the path C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\MagicMaX_2.1.2
Paste the cached files and folders into this folder (ctrl + v)
Step 6
Copy the application symbol "M" from the path C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\MagicMaX_2.1.2 and paste it on the desktop with a right click "Paste Shortcut".
Then rename the application symbol, e.g. "2.1.2_MM"
Step 7
Now install the 2nd required MagicMaX software version, e.g. Version 2.2.7
The existing folder C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\MagicMaX\ is now automatically removed and version 2.2.7. is installed in the path C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\IBADosimetryGmbH\MagicMaX 2.2.7 \.
Another application symbol "M" is automatically created on the desktop.
It is also recommended to rename this application symbol, e.g. "2.2.7_MM".
With the versions given as an example, the desktop icons would look like this:
