Question
How do I troubleshoot connection issues w/ my Lynx in myQA?
Answer
First you need the calibration files for the Lynx that you are trying to connect to. This can be obtained by running a software called “GetLynxCameraFiles”. Currently this application is installed with the Lynx 2D software. It is a good idea to have this software anyways, in case you cannot communicate with the Lynx.
Once you open the application, you will input the camera ID and press, “Get”.
A folder will be generated with the lynx camera ID. This folder can be found in the Lynx 2D folder where the application is. You will need this folder to pull the calibration files when setting up the Lynx in myQA software.
myQA Lynx Connection
With the Lynx connected to the computer through the POE (Power Over Ethernet) start the myQA software and go to Equipment Setup.
Because the Lynx is not networked you will not see a communication link to the Lynx. You will have to create the device yourself.
1. Select “Lynx” type under “Device Properties”.
2. The camera ID of the device should appear in the Camera ID spot. Simply click on “Add Files” to pull in the files that you will need to communicate with the lynx. These files will be located in the camera ID folder generated by the “GetLynxCameraFiles” application. It can be found under the Lynx 2D folder on the C drive.
3. Inside this folder you will need to add all 6 files you see in the window above. These files are the .CAL, .CGDB, .GEO, .IND, .RGU, .dia and the .TXTB. Additionally you will need to add the uniformity
matrix which can be found in the “Matrices” folder. You will want to choose the .MC file that has the TB100 description. This is the cobalt calibration performed by IBA Dosimetry.
4. Once you have uploaded the files, you need to press the “Test Connection” button.
*Note: You only need to do the Test Connection once to establish the communication. It does not need to be done when next connecting to the lynx.
5. When you test the connection of the device it will connect to the device and perform an image acquisition. You should expect to see green check marks with each test.
6. When test connection is successful, press the save button, and the lynx device will be created.
If you are unable to get a successful test connection. Disconnect the lynx from the POE and reconnect it. Close the myQA Software and start the Lynx 2D software. Make sure that you are connected to the internet and using the latest version of the Lynx 2D software. The latest version can be found at this website: http://fimel.fr/lynx2dsoftware.htm
- It is not always necessary, but sometimes running the Lynx 2D software will establish the connection and then allow the myQA software to communicate without issue. Once the software has started, you should try to take a background acquisition and an image
- Another source of communication issues can be related to unapproved adapters, convertors, or dongles (e.g. USB/ethernet) being used in the communication chain. Please do use any form of unapproved adapter when connecting to the Lynx.
- If you are still having issues communicating with the lynx is to run the application, “NetConfigLynx2D”. This will install the drivers for the lynx.
If that does not work, it is recommended to unplug all lynx connections and then plug them back in and wait a solid 5 minutes.
