Question
What to do when you get the error that the spotemkine server is unavailable when performing multiple spot analyses in myQA FastTrack?
Answer
Step 1
First, make sure the spotemkine server is allowed through your Windows firewall if applicable. The location of the service is in the following folder path C:\ProgramData\IBA Dosimetry\spotemkine-server\jar. Then follow the directions from the link below.
Step 2
You may also be getting this error due to two reasons, first, the image is unsuitable for multiple spot analysis. Second, there is a conflict with another Java process. If that is the case, it is recommended to close all Java processes and restart myQA and try again.
Step 3
The likeliest reason for the error is your analysis settings need to be modified for the measurement. Specifically, the intensity % for Gaussian Cut and Intensity % for Maximum. The intensity % for maximum is the lower limit for the local maxima of the spots, and the intensity % for Gaussian cut is the percent where the spots stop overlapping. The default for these is 80% and 5%. In the example below, by using the profile tab you can examine your spot map and figure out the appropriate settings to use for your analysis. In the image below, 80% works for the Intensity % for Maximum as all the spots maximum is above 80 percent, and 45 percent would be the best for the intensity % for Gaussian Cut, as above 40 percent is where the valley in between each spot lies.
